CAMP INFORMATION:
The purpose behind the USACycling Regional Development Camps is multi-faceted. First and foremost it provides a development opportunity for our younger riders. Over the course of the six day camp, participants will practice skills that are specific to the camp discipline, enjoy informational discussions about nutrition, bike mechanics, and training, and take part in standardized field testing that is consistent with all of the endurance-based camps.
The camp is open to any rider ages 14 - 22 yrs old who is physically able to ride some great roads in the Willamette Valley and compete under race situations. A current 2010 USAC License is required. The is not a camp for those who might be interested in beginning the sport. A little previous race experience is good, and the ability to complete rides on consecutive days with the groups is needed. This is not to scare anyone off, do know that we have many beginner level athletes that do just fine at the camp. USAC suggest having particpated in ten races prior to camp.
Collegiate athletes are encouraged to attend also, and do not need to meet any qualification criteria other than being a USAC member with the physical ability to race.

RACING OPPORTUNITIES:
Multiple camps have selected campers for elite junior competitions in the past (e.g. Le Tour de L'Abitibi for road, and Mt. Snow for MTB). Plans are in progress for these or similar opportunities to be available again in 2010. Selected riders will be invited to Colorado Springs to the Olympic Training Center for a National Junior Cycling Camp.
HOW TO REGISTER:
To register for a camp if you are an automatic qualifier, go to your MYUSACYCLING (at www.usacycling.org) account page and look under DEVELOPMENT CAMPS, VIEW AVAILABLE CAMPS.
If you are not an automatic qualifier, see the section below for Request of Eligibility. If your request is accepted, the registration option will appear in the above described area.
COST:
The camp registration fee is $750. Athletes that register on or before April 12, 2010 will enjoy an “early bird” discounted fee of $700. (Team early bird registration fees will be $625 per rider)
TEAMS/CLUBS:
(UPDATED) For clubs or teams with three or more eligible riders, USA Cycling offers a discount of $75 per rider. For early birds that means paying $625 per rider versus $700 for an individual (for regular registration, the cost is $675 versus $750).
However, the following procedure must be followed for team/club registration.
1. Complete an online survey Please read the instructions carefully.
2. Either print the survey and send it with a check to the address on the survey OR contact the Development Camp Director (Jim Anderson) to make credit card payment over the phone. Instructions for both processes are on the survey form.
Please note that the discount will NOT be applied retroactively. If a rider registers on his/her own and then wants to have the team discount applied, he/she will NOT be refunded the cost and the payment of the rider will not be applied to the team payment.
All riders do NOT have to attend the same camp.
